Hi, I have a spindle of Blank CD-R's and another Spindle of Blank DVD-R's.
My problem is my little boy mixed them all up. I need to seperate them, but
How can I test, to find out which one are the blank CDR's and which one are
the blank DVD's?

thank you

The lady, or the tiger?

I'm guessing the top of the disc -- the label side --
will clearly identify both the manufacturer's name and
what type disc it happens to be (unless you buy them
in bulk directly from the plant in China).

Look at the recording side. If it looks kind of purple it's probably a
dvd-r.

Look very closely at the edge of the disks. CD-Rs are made of
a single layer of plastic while DVD-Rs are made up of two pieces
laminated together. You should be able to see a line in the center of
the edge where the DVD layers are joined.

Were they labeled on one side as to their format?

I guess *I'd* be embarrassed to admit it, too. ;)

in case no one knows this, which I'm sure you all do:
you can put a blank disk in the cd tray, and from nero, ask about the
properties of the blank disk, and it's tell you what type of disk it
is, how many sessions have been recorded on it, and how much blank
space is left on it, and if it's still able to be writen to (meaning
no one closed the disk yet) Granted, this will take much longer than
the before metioned methods, but if you are ever just not sure....
