Double gradient in rectangle - light in middle to dark in top left and bottom right...
|
|
|
| Hi, and can somebody please help me with this very basic question / problem.
I have a rectangle and I want to apply two gradients to the same rectangle.
I want the center of the rectangle to be light (almost white) and I want the
color to get darker closer to the upper left and bottom right corners.
How can I apply two gradients to the same rectangle?
Thanks in advance!

Your problem, as described above, is under-defined in the sense that you can apply all sorts of distributions of light
and dark, that will all match your description but will look completely different. For example:
Lets assume you know how to build and modify gradients.
If you don't then look up Gradients in the help index and study:
Creating gradient fills
Modifying gradients
Adjusting gradients with the gradient tool
Methods 1abc.
Build a Black-White-Black gradient
Use the gradient tool (with linear gradient selected) to drag a gradient:
a) from left to right across the rectangle
b) from top to bottom down the rectangle
c) from top left to bottom right on ther diagonal of the triangle
Method 2
Build a White-Black gradient
Use the gradient tool (with radial gradient selected) to drag a gradient from the centre of the rectangle to a corner
Method 3
Build a Black-White gradient
Use the gradient tool (with radial gradient selected) to drag a gradient from a corner of the rectangle to the centre
Copy and paste this rectangle
Rotate the copy 180 degrees
Use the align tool to superimpose one rectangle over the other
Change the mode of the top rectangle to 'Darken'
Group the two rectangles together.
All of these methods will achieve what you have described - they will all do different things in the lower left and
upper right (interestingly enough they will all have exactly the same distribution of colours on the UL to BR
diagonal).
Method 4
Alternately you can select a rectangle and click Object/Create Gradient Mesh... Then (if you have read the help
section on Gradient Meshes, you will be able to set the colours of corners and centre (and intermediate points if you
have chosen a suitable mesh) as desired.
Method 5
Alternately you can get other interesting effects by taking existing gradients that match your specifications and
blending them to form other intermediate distributions of light-dark.
Method 6
I'll leave that to you...
