How to create WMF files from illustrator art?

I did it once traveling from Ill to Draw and some thing else that I don't
remember. I worked but it should be there some easier way.

AFAIK, File>Export>WMF
Although, I'd suggest EPS (with TIFF preview) first, then EMF over WMF if
it'll work okay for your needs. EMF allows for curves while WMF anchors are
basically corner points (connected straight lines). Unless, ofcourse, the
app you going to from Illy requires straight lines only.

Someone with greater knowledge of these file formats may offer better
advice.

I wasn't trying Export at all.

For now my needs are transforming a logo into a Clipart to use with
MSOffice. In this use I can't see any diferences between WMF and EMF.
But I would like to know more about this files formats and their advantages,
I might need it later.

Thanks.

Well, if you want to "create WMF files from illustrator art," that's how you
would do it from Illy. I'm not sure from your question though if you even
have Illustrator, do you? If not, what do you have?

From my limited knowledge, what I stated before is the biggest difference
between EMF and WMF. An EPS or EMF circle might have 4 curved anchor points,
whereas a WMF circle might be made of of a hundred or more corner anchors. I
imagine the latter could make for a more complex and heavier file, and in
some instances (like web or low resolution print) might result in a jaggie
appearance.

AFAIK, Word will import EPS. The preview may suck, but the print would be
optimum. I don't use MSOffice for anything though, so I can say about the
rest. (I'm a Mac person with an admitted bit of prejudice against MSOffice;)

Apart form program compatibility, it really depends on the type of image and
the intended output which format should be used.

Is your main purpose to send to a commercial offset printer or what?
Which MSOffice app do you intend to use?

I am using Illustrator on school. I am teacher and mainly user of Paint Shop
Pro.
My expertise on PS or Illustrator is not too big because I am learning alone
and for Illustrator there is not even one Portuguese book, nor Portuguese
version.
It should be there many things that I didn't find yet...

Now I understand wy in one of the experiences the WMF file became weaved
after being opened in PSP, I also noted some extra nodes on a star...
I will try some diferent ways and let you know.
The diferences may be bigger when the number of layers increases

The main propose is to provide the school logo in Clipart format so any
teacher can use it on documents, tests, and also for official school
documents, in this case in small size.
Some time is we also have need to print a poster about 100 mm large, but
usually the maximum is A3 size printed in school inkjet printers.

The main aplications are Word or Excel sheets.
Until now they used a GIF version from the scanned logo.
The logo was created from manual scratch, some years ago and was a student
work submited to a school art contest.
I vectorized the logo whith the students of pre press course.
Now I also had the idea of sharing some of the students Valentine theme
works as Clipart for use of other students in school.

Well, I've been told that Word will import EPS, I don't know about Excel
though. In Excel>Help you might be able to find out what image formats it
will import. Just make sure to keep one native Illustrator version. You can
Export/Save As a variety of different file formats as needed.

I'm self-taught, but I imagine it's a whole lot easier learning an
application that supports your native language.

Good luck,

The message was getting to long so I cuted the old parts.

I tried EPS on Word and it works but the image was far worst than in WMF.

Thanks again.

IF you want to import graphics in MSFT Word, I suggest you use the PNG
format.

Often an EPS will preview badly on screen when imported, but it will
give you a sharper print that raster images if it's going to a press or
postscript printer.
