script in Illustrator

| Hi All,
I have a series of eps images. I just want to perform exactly the same
operation on each of them with Illustrator :
open - delete the white background - save it in a bmp format
I know that this kind of operation can be achieved through a script in
Photoshop. It looks like there is no such a thing in Illustrator. Am I
right and if yes, is there another way to do what I want to do ??
thank you,

In this case, your tasks could probably more easly be done with an
Action, on a file that is already open.
Illustrator v9 and above (or is it v10) allows scripting using
Applescript on a Mac and javascript or vbscript on a pc.
Illustrator (at least vCS2) installs a scripting folder with
documentation and some sample scripts.
I just started experimenting with javascript scripts. If you learn
anything, please pass it along.

| I started working on that Action thing but it does not work at all.
I'am kindda familiar with Photoshop for this. Illsutrator
looks the same for the Actions definition. The point is that I do not
know at all how to use the Action for batch processing.
In Photoshop, there is this Automate option that will perform the
Action tasks you defined beofre on a bunch of chosen
files. I still do not know how to do the same in Illustrator CS2. The
help browser seems useless for the specific question....
If someone is an expert....

I used to use Photoshop Actions in several times, and there r many ways
of using them when it is a repeating action for all files. There is a
way to generate a EXE dropdown file, which allows you to use that
action even without opening Photoshop. U just hav to drag & drop the
file of folders with files in that exe.
I didnt really use them very recently, so cany explain it carefully
now. But what i remember is that I learnt them all by using the Help,
when i didnt even had internet connection. So i think there should be
the same scenario in Illy, and use Help o learn them. Cos it is very
usefull as wel as very powerfull!!!
