| Hi Guys, I've just recently started using Illustrator after leaving it on the back burner for some time (allergy to learning). I've discovered that when using the type tool, the program hangs and I have to shut it down. I'm using a P4 3.0ghz with a 128mb graphics card and 512mb ram running XP Home so the machine isnt the problem, besides I've installed it on an old P3 laptop to rule this out and it works fine.
Possible problems:
(1) I have my computer set for auto updates which occur when and if needed. I mention this as I am now getting an 'Active X' message when opening certain webpages which wasnt happening before.
(2) I installed some 3rd party fonts recently for use in Photoshop and deleted some others, Photoshop still works perfectly by the way. When I select the type tool in Illustrator there are no fonts showing in the character palette, instead I have what looks like a blank piece of notepaper, ie, several spaced lines. I've copied over the fonts from the laptop to the PC thinking that might help, but no joy.
I've deleted the AIPrefs file and restarted AI and the problem is still there. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Adobe products on my PC, again no change.
Any help greatly appreciated. |
