Author eps file not dependent on the scale

Hi all,

is there a way to make an eps file which is not dependent on the scale
of the image. In other words, a line with a 1pt width would keep this
width whatever the used scale in a subsequent application (I am
thinking about including an eps file using Latex).

if not, do you know how to ask Adobe to improve their product ?

Thank you,

Pluton

Think before you start working. You drill a hole in the wall, first you
think what drill and plug and screw you use. Subsequently you use the
drill, the plug and the screwdriver.

In other words use Adobe and tell us what Latex is other that rubber.

That is what I mean

You can get this behavior within Illustrator about 3 different ways; but I,
for one, wouldn't consider this an improvement in a finished, output EPS
because I would want everything to scale proportionally in my images.

Yes, I do, but I wouldn't ask for this. Adobe has forums, including one for
Illustrator feature requests. But if I'd have murderous intent towards
anyone who built this into the EPS format unless it were a non default
option. Better, a separate, extended format like EPSX or something.

To change options for scaling strokes/effects within Illustrator check the
Transform palette fylout menu, preferences or double click the scale tool.

I don't know anything about LaTex other than it's a programming language, I
guess. I have a freeware spell checker that's LaTex.

But I'm not sure he wants the EPS to do something with it wiht a program, or
if he wants to write a script to scale the EPS strokes in Illustrator. LOL!

About the greatest functionality of vector graphics is their scalability.

It's doable, but not directly in Illustrator AFAIK. You'll have to dink
with the Postscript code in the eps, likely moving the stroke operation
outside the gstate scaling so it's done after everything is scaled.
(note: this is from shaky memory, from a looong time ago. I haven't
played with Illustrator ps code since 88).

It's draw your paths, scale them, then stroke. I do recall that the
dictionary functions used by Illustrator got in the way and I wound up
essentially rewriting many of them, using the data Illustrator was kind
enough to give me.

As for knocking on Adobe's door: they do have an online presence, both
official support and large userbase forums. http://www.adobe.com and
follow the signs in Support. :)

ok, I was thinking it could be an option when you save your eps
document with Illustrator.
Maybe it xould be a greater idea to ask this question on a forum
related to eps and ps format ?

yes I am aware of this but it looks like it is totally messy and I do
not know if there is a direct and live interaction between customers
and an Adobe engineer, if you need to explain your case more in
details.

thanks,
