How do I save a working setup in Illustrator?
|
|
|
| I must make a similar work into 3 files a great number of times. I've
discovered that i work more quickly if i resize this 3 artboards windows in
a accurate way.
How can i save this setup? every time i reset my computer i've to reopen the
3 files and resize the artboard windows...and is a great mess! :)
Thank you all,
[mfk]

For Illustrator version 9.x and up...
Set up an Illustrator file to taste, adding in all the things you
normally use and sizing to your desired dimensions, then save over the
"Adobe Illustrator Startup_CMYK" in your plug-ins folder, overwriting
the original (make a back-up first!). Illustrator will now use that a
template for new files. RGB is handled similarly, with Adobe Illustrator
Startup_RGB being the file of interest.

Good information Doug.
While default fonts were not mentioned;
I previously had trouble editing the default font for these startup
files. I found that if I did the following, the changes stuck.
Windows > Type > Character Styles
In the Character Styles pallet, double click the [Normal Character
Style]
Under Basic Character Formats select/change the Font Family, size,
etc...
Then save the file/files.
