Are you referring to drawn objects or placed/linked images?

If it is a drawn object you're replacing, may it not just be edited?

But if you are replacing a drawn object; I'd select the object I'm replacing
in the Layers palette, drawn the new object on top of it, then delete the
original object from the layers palette. If very precise positioning is
required (better than eyeing) and the objects are very similar, then you can
select both in the Layers palette and use Align vertical centers, Align
Horizontal centers, or work in outline prview to fine tune positioning; then
delete the original one. Others may have better methods or a higher version
of Illy with new functions.

If you're replacing an imported image select it, then you can do this
either through the Links Palette>Replace, or through File>Place>check
Replace

Hi inez,
thank you newly :) ..but i had different shapes on the side of a list (not
aligned) and i wanted to substitute this shapes with another shapes,
maintaining the last position. i mean all this with some special function
not one by one.

i work lucky well by eye but generally i prefer the CTRL+U mode than the
CTRL+Y(outline) mode.

Good work!
