Author cut and paste - save my groups

When I cut and paste an .ai graphic from one document to another - it wreaks
havoc with the groups. Things get all strung out, and are not organized
exactly the same as they had been in the original document. Is there a way
to cut and past a document without that happening?

Thanks...

Duh........sounds like something is very wrong here Dave. I
assume from one Illy doc to another Illy doc?
Like always, first try and see what happens if you trash
your preferences. I never saw this happening.

A wild guess, without any reasoning see what happens if you
change the preferences under Files & Clipboard between PDF &
AICB. Although I can not check right now weather that still
is there under CS, but my guess is it will be.

If you are talking about Layers and Sub Layers, click the arrow on the
top right of the Layers pallet and you will see a choice "Paste
Remembers Layers" in the options dialog callout that appears.

See that this is checked and it will remember the Layers and Sub
Layers when you paste.

If you are talking about groups of objects grouped with the "Group"
command, I don't know what your problem might be.
