Adobe Illustrator - easy horizontal lines

I'm trying to figure out how to do these horizontal lines:

What are those called and how would I go about that?

Why can't you just draw white lines over the text?

Draw the 1st white line at top.
Then Copy (command+c)
Paste in Front (command+f)
shift/drag it where you want it below the first, then
Copy, Paste in Front, and command+d
Copy, Paste in Front, and command+d
Copy, Paste in Front, and command+d
Copy, Paste in Front, and command+d... however many times.
Then you may need to adjust the bottom one for balance,
then select all the white lines and in the Align palette select
Vertical Distribute Center

OR, draw the first line, go to Effect menu/Distort & Tranform/Transform;
check the Preview,
set a distance under Move/Vertical (use negative number for down)
then set a number of copies (make any adjustments according to preview) and
click OK
It's all one object at this point, so to make any adjustments select Object
menu/Expand Appearance, then Ungroup (shift+command+g)

OR, you could make a line pattern...

No need to copy paste, copy paste. Just ALT+SHIFT Drag it..it'll make the
first copy. THEN CTRL+D as many as you need (these are PC instructions).

Ah! You're right! Works on Mac as Shift+option drag. Then Command+d :)

So does that make Shift+option the same as Clone in old Freehand?

I must add that "Option" seems to be obsolete these days in
the Mac world, it is all Alt what I see on keyboards. Funny
we have a guy from Graphic School for a learning period at
our business, he never ever heard of "Option" while he
worked with Mac for two years........ah old times........;)

Whenever I get my hands on some $$ I'm going to buy every old Apple Pro
Keyboard I can find. Ha! It does have a tiny 'alt' on the option key, but I
manage to ignore it;)
