Author bounding box resize without content resize

I've illustrator CS on Windows XP.

I've copy/pasted a logo with a trasparent background from an other AI file.
The problem is that I've to place this logo very close to the border of my
banner, but the bounding box is outside the banner border. I'd like to
resize the bounding box without resizing the logo itself, as they are many
pixels between the logo borders and the bounding box (the bounding box is
the blue box around the object when I select it and has little white squares
around for resizing)
How to do so ? I want the bounding box as close as possible as the logo
border.

because I've the logo very close to the border, and the bounding box get
over the banner limits, so when I save for the web, I've a transparent frame
around the banner, due to the bounding box of the logo. If I move the logo
bounding box inside the banner, I've the banner for the web at the correct
size.

mmmmm I thought the bounding box was just "imaginary", but
OK I have no clue about web design;)
Try clicking "hide bounding box", shift-command-B, under the
View menu.

The problem is probably due to one or two constituents of your logo. Ungroup
it, if grouped, and put each part on a different layer. Clicking on and off
determine which one(s) extend the bounding box beyond what you want. You
will probably find it is just one. Then if is text resize, and something
else redraw. Remember as good as the program is, its not perfect.

By using the group selection tool (under the direct selection tool)? Click
the rectangle and resize it ..

It sounds like you just want to get ride of any extra margin area around the
logo when you safe for web. On the top most layer make a rectangle that
meets the edges of your logo image. Then under the Object menu select Crop
Marks/Make. Then save for web.
