| how to place a bitmap file on illustrator with working alpha channel / path
and so on. I want to outline an object and remove the background from it.

Sorry, it is a Photoshop job, but it seems that CS 2 of Illy
can trace wonderful. That would be a solution also.
Alpha channel/path would then be just a vector path.

you mean to create a vector path for bitmap on illustrator? those alphas and
paths done on photoshop doesnt work on AI?
