The prize is a free ticket to the program. Why am I so underwhelmed?

I'm a major Heinlein fan, so that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the
ownership thing for 'everything' submitted.

You get in but pay your on transport, lodging and meals. (the promoters are
making big bucks) Like the story about the man who was run out of town on a
rail "were it not for the honor, I'd rather walk"

BTW Heinlein was paid and paid well for his IPR why should 'we' be any
different?

why don't they just pay someone $300 or 600? instead of a crappy trade out
for an event who wants to go to?
This contest crap for models, design work, etc, is just a ploy to get free
work. And is pisses me off. Reminds me of the people who put ads for design
work on craigslist, "good experience for student" blah blah
"do it for credit" Credit my paypal account, cheapskate
I bet they didn't ask the caterer and other services to trade for credit and
attendance.
RANT OVER

First of all the price for something like this should be higher, much higher
that $300-600 bucks.

Second, they do it because they have it on good authority that the process
works.
