| Jeez, I hate to have to type newbie in the subject line but that's what I am
to Illustrator... I've used photoshop for many years and am still
fascinated with that program... Soooo, I decided to get Illustrator... I
was disappointed when I got the program in the mail to discover it does not
come with a book... I prefer books to learn a program and was wondering if
someone could recommend a good book for me to buy... I'd appreciate it...
Thanks,
Babs

Illustrator for Dummies seems to be basic but good. And
being new on vectors might need some basic understanding
about them, including how to make curves etcetera. Your
Photoshop background can sure help you, provided you are
ready for something totally else:)) I mean: tools can be
handled quite the same (like the pen tool) but the goal is
different often.
Have a search on Amazon, maybe you bump into some
trustworthy positive reviews. Als the Illustrator Bible is
of course good, but goes into depth.
Last source: look for illustrator tutorials. I always found
the Manual pretty good, quite a shame they do not deliver
that with the software as a standard!

Two Adobe books: Adoibe Illustrator Classroom in a Book and Adobe
Illustrator Wow! Book. The first will teach you the basics, the second
will show you some of things you can do with the tools.

I was hoping knowing photoshop already would be a help...

I'll check out that book... And yes, I was suprised I didn't get a book,
thought for sure I would... There's plenty of tutorials but I kind of
thought that if I bought an exprensive program like that that I'd get a book
and wouldn't have to waste time printing stuff out for my own use... Oh
well...
