Darn left me without arms that did! Stroke Zero!
he he he he;)
Hey guys and gals. Just to give some unwanted input. My job
turns out to be great. Managing a small design studio, the
real boss is always on the road being lazy. I do not mind.
All investments (new G5's plus all the current software
including CS 2) is coming in in about two weeks. The gals
are excited. Took some persuasion but hell, who can work
with Photoshop on a G4 with 256Mb, 350Mhz and 16 Gb HD!!!
So improvement is coming.
Nice thing is that besides my "managing" stuff and customer
contacts I can really glow, I am the only one who knows
anything about Illustrator.........yes I know, I said:
design studio. But it is the way it is and I am a happy
camper showing off:))
In my own sympathetic way of course. Ow and outsourcing is
fun, finally I could help some friends with some work after
all the help I got from the same friends.
I will try to hook up this group at work also. Because there
are questions popping up I am sure;)

Good for you. Work is only worth doing if you;re having fun doing it,
IMHO. ;-)

That could get old quick if they don't catch on in a reasonable amount of
time. I know I find myself answering questions about Illustrator & Photoshop
that I shouldn't have to, considering the amount of time we've been using
them.

Wonderful news, Steggy! Could you pretend that you have and extra employee
in th US and send a G5 and apps my way too? LOL!
I'm glad you're enjoying your work and helping them grow. It must be very
rewarding. I don't know how old their apps are or how steep the learning
curve, but I'm sure the good folks in the group will be happy to help when
they can. You might check into some resources like lynda.com also.
I'd wish you luck, but you have talent and knowledge on your side already,
so keep up the good work!

Well here is the deal. We have one girl who is very good
with Photoshop and XPress. Then a woman who can deal with
the same and someone from school positioned with us to learn
the trade, but of course is trained for a few years.
What could and should have been done in the past in
Illustrator was almost always done in Photoshop. So I am
trying to explain to them when Illy comes in. Also we want
to convert to InDesign. They are quick learners and eager so
that is not the problem. I am sure we will make it;)
About shipping over to the US, not such a bad idea Inez! If
I can convince my boss to buy the stuff in America, well
with this euro/dollar rate he will safe 30%, enough to give
you a nice summer present:)

LOL! I don't think he'll go for being Santa Claus, but it's a nice fantasy
anyway. And for good or bad, I don't think I'm design studio material, and
have pretty much lost all my ability to be any kind of employee. LOL! Way
too many insane, idiot employers/supervisors in my past has turned me into a
dangerous personality in the work place;) I'm certainly open to outsourced
work once I get through this one project though;)
As far as purchasing in the US; even though my last experience wasn't
perfect I still like macsales.com very much. I don't know their
international sales policies though. Coming in second would be macmall.com,
but I haven't used them in years.
