| I keep having a big problem with digital images taken with my camera and working
with them in Illustrator 10.0
I can Place ( no link ) and resize. But I can't crop, change any parts, change
colour, smudge, etc. I import as jpg images around 300KB in size. I am taking
pictures of an object using a blue background made for editing.
The other problem is tracing. I can't seem to tarce out the image so I place
just the image on top of other artwork.

Most of what you mention is Photoshop stuff. Software is
written for different applications for different goals.
Illustrator is not a photo editing app, it is a drawing app
basically. More and more tools and functions will be
integrated I am sure, but right now you need Photoshop.
Tracing has always been a pain, Illustrator CS2 should have
a good tracing option as I understand.
