I work at an architectural firm and we're having a problem with color output
from Illustrator. The stuff we send to the color laser usually looks fine,
but the colors are "off" and oftem garish when we send files to our HP color
plotter. The problem is most apparent on files which contain raster images
as well as vectors. If I export the graphic as a JPG and then plot from
another program, the color looks OK; also, if I save the image as a PDF and
then print it from Acrobat. However, it would be nice (as well as it being a
case of the program doing what it's supposed to do) if things printed
properly from Illustrator.

I suspect this has something to do with the color space set up. Any
insights?

Thanks,

Marc Clamage

I have found you can get a completley different result depending upon
the printer especially in Photoshop. I have found this is caused by
both the application and the printer trying to manage the colour
output, so turning off colour management improves the output but I
cannot find a way of turning colour management off in illustrator but
it may be worth changing the printer configuration.
