Help with Text Shape
|

| Those of you more experienced Illustrator users may answer my question.
I'm trying to take a word and simply have the base of it arc up - but
the top of the word stays straight.
The envelope distortions don't seem to produce what I'm trying to do -
nor do the mesh and warp tools.
I'm using CS. There's an example of what I'm referring to on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ssPageName=WDVW
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

| You can type up the words using the most similar font you can find, then
select the text and convert to outlines (under the type drop down menu).
Your vector shapes can now be modified using the direct selection tool (the
white arrow) to make the shape you need.

You might try to make that shape with the envelope distortion ("make
with top object"), the result will not be exactly like your example. But
if you first outline the text, then make a good object to do the
envelope and the hit Expand Object you can edit the separate letters to
what you want.
I would not be surprised when there is an easier way to do this:))

| To get that effect, I typed the text and converted to outlines. Then I
went to "envelope ditort" - "make with warp" and selected "Arc Lower"
with a "Bend" at -18. This keeps the top flat and bottom arc like the
sample you indicated. Hope this helps.

GOOD ONE!!!
It is not all the way, but this comes close, have to play with the
"Bend" somewhat more I guess.

Appreciate it a lot!

| Or you could use WordArt in Microsoft Word/Office and export it. Seems
pretty simple. Cacky sort of design though whichever way you slice it.
