Author Pathfinder: Substract multiple shapes?

Hello all,

I have one short question:

I want to cut off multiple shapes all by the same substracting shape,
e.g. a bunch of circles which I want to fit inside a rectangle.
There sure must be a short way to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance,

Guido

hi guido,

in ai10 make sure that your circles are all on top of the rectangle, choose
all objects and substract via pathfinder palette

or place your rectangle over the circles and go Object, Clipping Mask , Make
..
this might be easier.
