| If i create a new file and I paste objects created in an other file the
swath palette does not show the colors of the newly added objects. Every
book I have say that the new colors should appear in the palette.
I am using Illustrator 10 on W2K.
Thanks

| Click on the object in question and drag the color chip to the swatch
palette.

| This is from the Illy 10 help files and would only work with a saved
document.
Loading colors from other files
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use the Other Library command to import colors, gradients, and patterns
from other Adobe Illustrator files. When you select a file using the
Other Library command, all of the source file's spot and process colors,
gradients, and patterns are added to a new palette.
If you select a file whose color mode is different than the current
document, the colors will be converted into the closest equivalent color
in the destination document's color mode.
To import colors, gradients, or patterns from other files:
Choose Window > Swatch Libraries > Other Library.
Select the file from which you want to import swatches, and click Open.
To add colors from the other file's library into the Swatches palette:
Select one or more swatches in the library:
Click to select a single swatch.
Shift-click to select a range of swatches.
Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) to select noncontiguous
swatches.
Do one of the following:
Drag and drop the selected swatches from the library to the Swatches
palette.
Choose Add to Swatches from the library palette's pop-up menu.
Hope this helps.

| Global color can be a problem because automatically can change the color in
other files if the names of the colors are not set.

I meant to say: identify and determine a name that is different from
existing swatches. Because I assume that is the problem, Global makes
the new swatches applicable to other documents, which is cool, but if
they have the same name you are in trouble?

Brrrrrr I understand there is a problem with so many objects and so many
colors. But I guess you need to identify all the colors in the original
document.....mannnn quite some work huh?:))))
