Hi,
First off let me explain my problem.I have no experience in illustrator,
however I had some webpage designed in Illustrator 8. They have been
presented to the programmer who will be building the site. He says it would
be better if he gets them in JavaScript. How does one convert the what was
designed in I8 to JavaScript? Can the conversion it be done in Illustrator
or do I need an outside program? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to
this.

Well, coming from me, there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers:\

I have no experience with this, but I think he means to set interactivity
where applicable in your document using *SVG Interactivity* under your
*Window* menu and then exporting as SVG.

Don't know though. If you can't write JavaScript commands he'll have
to supply them, so he might be better off doing it himself (since he's
the programmer). Hope you get a more educated answer.
See:

Of course, you might ask him to be more specific. He may just want
take it into ImageReady or Firework and set mouseover events with
the program's preset scripts. Sorry can't be of more help.

PS_ I'm very interested in SVG but it's WAY out of my league for now:(

The programmer is supposed to create the javascript. That is his job. Not
the designers. If he doesn't know how to, then you should look elsewhere.

ps. It's simple if you are just talking about rollovers and the like using a
program like dreamweaver. I would assume that there was a miscommunication
somewhere because it sounds like a strange request from a programmer. Giving
him the benefit of the doubt.
