Author Creating Vector Realistic Brushed Steel Background

I need to create a realistic brushed steel backround in Illustrator. Easy enough to do in photoshop but is there any techniques or tutorials in Illustrator. I have seen a couple text effects trying to get the steel look but not very realistic and I need I complete Backround.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
