I am trying to get some circular(ish) shapes pushed back into an actual
circle. Is there a backdoor sneaky trick to make them behave?

How circular are they? Are those shapes vectors? If they are
oval just click with the circle tool in the center and
adjust the diameter.

If the shapes are bending all over it gets more complicated,
I would just create new perfect circles, trying to get close
to the original measurements.

Use the transform palette and enter equal dimensions for the shape's height
and width.
