My drawing has gone nuts...

| I'm stuck. I'm working on a large drawing that is being separated into color
layers that will be used to make reproduction parts.
One of the layers is behaving erratically. The objects can't be indiviually
selected and it won't respond as expected. In peticular, there are several
circles and other shapes that are supposed to be cut our of the shape. I can
see the outline when I click the object but it does not cut the circles out
of the larger shape. I'm frustrated to the point where I figure I'll have to
start this layer from scratch. That would be hours of work lost. I'd rather
learn how to solve the problem..
If anyone can help me out, I'd apreciate it a lot..

| Well, borne of necessity... I've answered most of my own question. I used
the layer palette to ungroup and reorganize the objects so that they are not
acting this way any more. It is still a bit of trial and error as I am
working on cutting away bits from a big pieces rather than my usual adding
pieces. New way of doing things means new things to learn. I still don't
know why this happened, but I'll figure it out..
Thanks all.
