Unite Color Swatches
|

| Hi,
Is there any command to unite colorswatches that have exact the same color?
Example:
I have a Document where i apply a global color swatche to another with
drag&drop. Now i have the original swatch and the one which have been
changed to the same color.
If you do this often, you get a lot of color swatches which have the same
color-code. Is there a command like "Clean up swatches" or "re-sort
swatches" or something, to make one swatch out of many same?

What would you do, to keep your swatches in order?

| You could use the action: "Delete Unused Palette Items"

Yes, but these swatches would still be used on different objects...

In the swatch palette click on the little triangle in the top right
corner, click 'select unused swatches' then press delete swatch.

Well don't do it that way then! Use the same fill and stop creating new
ones of the same colour.
Why don't you select the objects using the 'same fill colour' in the
select menu and then just click the correct swatch. Once you click that
swatch the objects will change and then you can delete the unused ones.
I suggest you create the swatches for each colour beforehand and then
create all the objects using the required colour. You can still delete
swatches from the palette even if the colour is being used.

The 'same fill colour'-method is bad because:
1. you won't get all objects, fixed ones won't get marked, Text box with
more than 1 color won't get marked ...etc.
2. you have to do it with the outlines too.

No, I'm updating existing documents, and i'm replacing a lot of colours.

I know, but the problem is, that it's a hell of work to sort needed and
unneeded swatches out of some 40 ... through replacing most swatches are
existing 2 or 3 times with the same color...Applied swatches, and changed
swatches.

When i replace a color, i have the original swacth (used for applying to
another swatch, in order to replace), and the one which got applied with
the original one.
The second, which got applied keeps its old name but changes the color-
code...

What do you mean by fixed objects?

So how exactly are you doing it right now?

I still can't see what the problem is because if there are multiple swatches
of the same colour then just deleting them would be okay. The only problem
would arise if you were using the swatch to select each colour but that
can only be done with a global swatch, if that was the case then you
wouldn't have a problem in the first place.
So are you using global swatches or not?

I was refering to the original swatches not the ones you were creating.
