Anyone using this viewer?
http://www.jamnart.com/xtraverter-formats.htm

I currently use ThumbsPlus but it does not support the .ai format. And, I have not heard of anyone
raving about some utility that does support the .ai format. Feedback is appreciated.

No idea about that viewer, sorry. But if the file is AI 10 or later,
change the file extension to .pdf (assuming it's saved as a
pdf-compatible file). Think everyone should have that viewer!

I think the OP wants thumbnails. If you use Windows Explorer, you could do
this: go to View and select Large icons. Both Photoshop and Illustrator
generate thumbnails that are also the icons of the files.

Do a Google search for "ACDSee". It is a fantastic thumbnail viewer/printer.
I don't know if it supports "ai" files, but does support "eps". Check out
their website.

There are two very good viewers that will show thumbnails of ai files -- if a
thumbnail was saved with the file.
Extensis and Fotostation.
Both have free trial versions.
http://www.extensis.com
http://www.fotostation.com
I've been using Fotostation for several years and really like it. Very easy to
catalog/index things. Excellent search function. Works across media and cross
platform. It can be used in "browser" view for drag and drop into InDesign,
Photoshop and GoLive.

Haven't upgraded yet. Been dropping hints to Santa, though:) I want to upgrade
the whole suite.
Been too busy to try and learn something new. I also want to upgrade to XP
before upgrading Adobe. I've got the full version of XP, just need to spend the
time installing it.

Graphic Converter 4.92 supports the .ai format in that it allows you to view
..ai files

kewl...I upgraded to the whole suite...but, I think now I would have done it diff. But, I did upgrade my mem to 1meg which helps.
BTW...I downloaded fotostation....and, it does not see any original .ai file types from the Adobe clip art folder.. Also, it seems
now that none of the viewers I have see even the eps due to automate file association via Illustrator CS. :(

I don't know what the problem is with those. You can see them with the
Portfolio Browser that Adobe includes in the clipart file.
I can see EPS with fotostation, so the ones created by AI 9 work. Check on the
fotostation site to see if they say anything about it.
You may have to save a preview with the CS version.
