Adobe Illustrator - Colours Problem

I am printing a document in Illustrator with this colour, hex value: #990000

Now, unless I am going colour blind, this is a burgundy, dark-red
colour. However, when I print it comes out as a very dark brown.

I am printing my document in CMYK onto a Canon s330 printer. I know
these questions are asked constantly, but I have never found any answers
that I quite absorb. I am completely 'green' where printing issues are
concerned, so I would appreciate some clear 'idiot proof' guidance to
resolve this issue once and for all.

I have a lot of work to do in the next few weeks. Won't somebody help me

First off, Hex values only apply to colors used on the web.
Don't print in CMYK to a desktop printer. CMYK should only be used for
commercial printing. You need to convert everything to RGB.
A Canon s330 printer is near the bottom of the line. You won't get great color
matching with it but it can be adequate if you're using Canon inks and paper.
Once you get everything into RGB you need to experiment with color profiles in
Illustrator and with options available in the printer software to get a good
match between colors on the screen and what comes out of the printer. You have
to work on that yourself. Read the help files in Illustrator on printing to a
desktop printer and also read the help files for the printer.
