I need some drawings rendered to illustrator
|
|
|
| Hi There!
I sometimes get behind on a project and need someone to render drawings I
have into .eps files.
I am at that point now.
I figure we can do it like this:
1) I have Illustrator 8.0 running on XP but no time to do the work.
2) I give you 8 pages of drawings in a .pdf file (fairly simple drawings of
machine parts or charts) or I can send them as .tiff files, etc
3) You render them into .eps format. You will probably have to bring them
into illustrator and trace from a second layer. I doubt that a auto-trace
program will do it.
4) You send back to me the .eps files that can be viewed in illustrator 8.0
on a PC running XP.
I am a business so I can pay by puting money on your credit card or we use
pay pal or whatever.
If you want to see the project and give me a quote my contact is:

How will your site be better than the newsgroup?

He/she proposes a newsgroup, not a site.
It would be more on-topic and requests like these often ask
for more than proficiency in illustrator, also in Photoshop
and InDesign for instance. But seeing the few requests like
these I do not think it is worth to open a separate group
for that.

I agree. There are maybe 10, at the most, per. month in all of the art
related newsgroups... I don't think that is enough traffic to justify a new
newsgroup.

|
| I think it's a great idea. There are probably many more that aren't posted
because it's against the newsgroups rules. As well, there are sites out
there like Elance.com and emoonlighter.com that offer that service but the
designer has to pay to bid etc.
Go for it man. I would forsure check those listings or even post some jobs
of my own.

| How does all this talk help this guy out. Sure it's worth jawing over but
meanwhile this guys on a deadline. I say post the damn files and someone
will do them for you. I would. Just post the damn things. Bypass congress or
your looking at next year before anyone gets around to doing anything for
ya.

| Those files can not be posted on most news servers if it is
not a binary group. Plus: what do you think would happen,
everyone sends him back the results hahahaha, eat your heart out.
I think the way the OP handled it was quite OK. Just a
request, no fuzz, plus offering money for it so nothing
wrong. And the idea of starting a separate group for these
kind of requests is not harmfull, but just not necessary. We
are not speeking of spam or that sort of thing. Nobody is
hurt. And nobody is jawing Cowboy, just a little spin off
from the original posting. If you want to help the guy out
mail him, like he requested, I did.

| Don't tell him to email him. I am not interested in increasing the
competition.
Let him have his monologue.

Yes I think you're right, i thought of sth. like alt.graphics.jobs.
I thought that with some publicity it could get quite good visited.
However, lets wait... maybe in future there will be more requests like
this. I'll take this up again when it evolves...

The problem with something like that is the term "jobs" attracts a lot of
amateurs who will offer to do things for free or $5.
This isn't a high traffic group. Since this is an alt group without a charter
there isn't anything wrong with putting job offers here. Legitimate job offers
have always been welcome here and well received.

Yeah, it tends to be the so called 'competition' job advertisement which
gets ignored or flamed.
