Author guestbook spam

Hi

Probably like many people I have problems with all the spam in my
guestbook. Can anyone give me a good solution to that. I've tried
junkeater. But than you get redirected to a junkeater page. Isn't there an
other solution. Block the ip's in .htaccess is a work of no end, the keep
comming... The idee of junkeater is good, to let a person type over a
number on a picture. Maybe a link to a gb that has something like that in
his code? Or maybe some other solutions.. Isn't there something like
spamassassin for a guestbook?

Many thanks...

No.

Either live with the reality, or close the guestbook. But in either
case, don't lose sleep over it.

Hi Haig,
I know the problem. Getting rid of spam can spoil your day. I use a
service that links an input form on my site to a database (on the
hosting server). No need for mail adresses and most important: no spam.
It is very easy to set up and to use. It is part of the package
(all-in-one service) of SBI. Another great feature they have is
marketing tool to improve trafic to your site. The downsite is, it is
not for free. But the price of $299,-/yr is real value for money as far
as I am concerned. If you like to check it out, go to:
http://www.sitesell.com/jch2.html
They also offer great manuals that help to improve your website and to
generate traffic. These manuals are free to download:
http://freetrial.sitesell.com/jch2.html
And if you have a specific question whether they can be of help to you,
just ask them. You will be surpriced by their quick and helpful reply
(at least I was). http://question.sitesell.com/jch2.html
I hope this is of help to you,
Jake

Hi Haig
Take a look at these people :
http://www.my-gb.com/

I use them and I can block ip addresses as well as delete the spam.

Hi!
Have a look at Nobot Guestbook (http://tabish.freeshell.org/nobot/)
You do not need any external sites like junkeater - it does what
junkeater is supposed to do. And there are only PERL scripts.
Basically a modification of Matt's guestbook script.
