PS LE 5.0 started crashing
|

| I have had Photoshop LE on this PC for over 2 years, running fine with Win
XP until today. I like it because it is quick to load and does all I need
most of the time. It started freezing solid for minutes at a time as soon
as I tried to open a jpeg photo file from a directory on the C drive - no
probs with that photo or directory before. I have not to my knowledge
installed any new software recently, apart from automatic updates of Grisoft
AVG Free and Windows.
I uninstalled the program and re-installed from the original disc (not a
copy), with the correct serial no. The prog now opens and loads the photo
OK, but many of the options have blank buttons, and the Image Size option
immediately closes the program. Any suggestions for fixing gratefully
received!

| Good idea - thanks - Doh! No old updates available on the PS website, but
from their FAQ it is clear that the same kind of problem still seems to be
common with the latest versions - caused by too many startup items filling
up working memory space - pruned out some rubbish & all is well again!

| Trev.....
glad to hear all is ok now.......
and while we're on the topic, I try not to install too many plug-ins for
that same very reason.
