| I own CS2 the first time it starts each day takes a long time. All
subsequent restarts open reasonably. I am on a raid 5 HD with 400gb free.
2gb ram, 3ghz. it is not the latest, but it slow system. By slow I am
talking about 1-2 minutes. subsequent loads of 15seconds. That is just
starting the program not loading any image.
any suggestions?
Thanks
Robert

How many fonts do you have installed on your system? How many plugins and
third party filters are you running in CS2?
You shouldn't be experincing this kind of load up time. I run CS2 on a
2.8GHz machine with only about 20GB free space (gotta have a clean up!!) and
1Gb of RAM. It can take up to about 40 seconds to load, but I do have a LOT
of fonts and quite a few plugins and filters, so I wouldn't expect it to be
blisteringly fast at load up. Once it's loaded, it works fine until my
images get REALLY large in file size.

Hi Robert - I came across this small free app some while ago - it was
recommended for speeding up the loading of Photoshop - I have not tried it,
but I tried the sister app which speeds up the loading of Acrobat reader! by
disabling unused plug-ins and that works extremely well!
Give it a try and post back! (You have the option of returning to your
original settings by the way!)

This is the blurb from the website in case anyone else has a slow starting
problem!!
Adobe Photoshop SpeedUp significantly decreases the time it takes to load
Adobe Photoshop by disabling the plug-ins that you may not need. There are
several options such as whether to load the Adobe fonts, load the presets,
and set the memory usage. You may restore to the original settings at any
time. Adobe Photoshop SpeedUp is freeware, works with Adobe Photoshop
versions 3 through 8. Available interface languages:
Features:
Free Photoshop Tweak Utility for Adobe Photoshop version 4 through 8
Enable or disable the plug-ins as needed
Do not load Adobe fonts CMap and Base
Do not load Photoshop Presets
