GIF transparency problems

I have made a logo that only has text on it. I want the background to
be transparent. When i try to set the transparency. Whatever color i
select as transparent always leave a ring around my text. Its like the
parts that were antialis stay the color of the background instead of
being the color of the text (black and green) WHy is this happening
and how can i fix it?

You need to select a matte color that is the same or similar to your web
background color. You can't have antialiased edges in gif so that is the
best you can do.

| So i have to redesign without antialiais edges? for a gif to work?
How come when i save it as a jpeg or btmp and insert it on the
background on my page. It is fuzzy. Kinda distorted near the
edges...but if i enter a photo from the digital camera on the same
background this is not the case.

| the test doesnt look as good without the antialiais. any suggestions?

No.
You have to set a "matte color." Look closely in the Save for Web
dialog. On the right-hand side, underneath the "Save" button, you will
see something that says "matte color." Click on it and enter the color
of your Web page background.

JPEG is "lossy." It degrades the quality of the image to make the file
smaller. The degradation most drastically affects perfectly straight
lines and solid areas of color. Photographs do not typically have hard,
crisp lines and solid areas of color, so you do not notice the
degradation and fuzziness as much as you do with something like text.
