I am cropping an image and I end up with a black border around the entire
image. Is there a way to remove this?

Thanks

are you sure you are using the crop tool? NOT the marquee tool?
a thin line will be between the image and the window but it is not a
border,it is just the edge of the image.
Make sure no layer effects are on the image you are cropping (like stroke)
if it is happening during the print phase check your options on the "print
with preview", select border and make sure it's set to 0
