Fractals in Photoshop

| I used to love designing psychedelic images using KPT's Fractal
Explorer. Is there any way to achieve the same type of imagery with
Photoshop CS2, either within the app or with current third party
software?

| You can still use KPT. There are a number of standalone fractal generators
available, including Fractal Explorer:

A very good fractal program which supports layers and merge modes ala
Photoshop is Ultrafractal:
www.Ultrafractal.com
This latter costs money, and has a quite steep learning curve, but has broad
capabilities.
Another one--free--to create flame fractals is Apophysis
http://www.apophysis.org/
There are also many others. Check here:

All create graphics files which can be opened in PS. Ultrafractal exports
..psd files which preserve layer and transparency information as well.
Have fun,

| Thanks much, Toby. I should have specified that I'm on a Mac. Just
about all of the programs shown on those pages are either PC or so old
they won't run on my OS X computer. But I do appreciate you taking the
time to respond.
