Author Renaming folder in Bridge deletes cache?

Why is it when I rename a folder in Bridge the cache for the subfolder is
deleted and has to rebuild all over again?

I just got done renaming and organizing about 20 folders with 7000 images
and now I have to wait over an hour to "build cache" all over again.

This really irks me!

*If* I did it outside of Bridge, i.e. in Windows Explorer, I could see why
Bridge would require a rebuild. But now when I do it within Bridge. Bridge
should update the cache, not rebuild from scratch.

Please tell me I am doing something wrong (besides using Bridge in the first
place....).

After a bit more googling it seems there is no way around this problem. In
fact, most people think it's safer to do the folder management outside of
Bridge and then kick off the "build cache for subfolders" before going to
bed. What a POS but I guess it's the only way right now.

I am not sure why Adobe feels we need their file system/browser when it is
HIGHLY inferior to the filing system native to Windows and they have added
insult to injury for PC users by removing the thumbnail function in Windows.
The cache feature is the most annoying part of it. It's super slow compared
to Windows to see an use one's files. If the above is true it just shows
they should stick to photo improving software and get the HELL out of OS
territory. You cannot even see just a list of names to make it faster it
just makes more and smaller thumbs and you still have to wait. Unless you
make hundreds of tiny folders it is useless for a whole photo session of
images.
It has no SAVE functions, if you select show flagged only it doesn't save
your preference when you go back to the folder it will still show all
flagged and unflagged, so you still have to wait an hour for it to show you
the thumbs and then wait again while it goes back to just flagged.
It is wholly inferior to Windows file functions.
The Bridge feature is the one reason I am considering NOT upgrading to CS2.
For years we have all used PS with no help from an additional file browser,
most of us have long ago figured out how to organize our files on our own
OS.

Ok rant over
this is my least favorite feature of CS can you tell?
