LOL. Very enlightening.
Any other pearls of wisdom ?
Here's one.
Manipulating photo's with anything is a waste of time and you're a knob.
How's that ?

Depends, for the most part I totally agree with what you feel about LCDs.
There is, however, one company that should be noted
http://www.eizo.com/products/graphics/index.asp

For those of us who cant afford an Eizo (or two) have another problem.
CRT's are becoming harder to find. Several companies have stopped making
them altogether and Shops are stopping selling them. Leaving our upgrade
choices severely limited if we ever want to change our montiors. Its
infuriating and frustrating.

'poor grammer' John? (or lack of it, like Bill pointed out:-)
In forgetting about the topic of the letter, and only addressing
your remark; two questions came to my mind (because I am sure
the same remark (about grammer of course) can be made
about my letters as well)

1. Do you keep in mind that a large share of us members
do not talk English as home language? That many of us
speak another language at home?

2. How many languages can you, John, communicate in?

Dave
in thinking that what you said was unasked for:-(

I try to keep that in mind, always. In the case of whomever it was I was
laming on grammar, it seemed to me he was English speaking, but boorish.
Could be wrong about the language, tho.

I try to never correct grammar or spelling unless I catch it in
someone's post where they're also miscorrecting something (as Bill did
me), or they are repetitive boors.

Depends whether you count English, 'Strain, and 'Merican as separate
languages! I can get by in Spanish, and at one point was fluent in French.

Sorry if I've been harsh, John; and it was my conclusion as well
that he ìs English speaking. Then he deserved it.

>I try to never correct grammar or spelling

and there is quite a dif between 'Strain' and 'Merican'.
In fact, a Scottish (local) friend was told by his family in Scotland
that he can not speak English:-)
I can speak a few languages of which Home Language is Afrikaans,
while living in an English city, and Zulu is also one very prominent
language here in Kwa ZuluNatal. A real good joke was, when writing in
Netherlands on a Netherlands news group, I was sh*t out by a
Netherlander because my Netherlands had a tendency towards Afrikaans!
He could not take us 'Amsterdam's with our funny dialects, he said:-0

good, and surprising! we usually see Yankee's and Brits as
mono-lingual:-) Hecate said she can also speak Spanish.
I am a descendent of the French, and wish I could speak it,
but use therefore will be very limited here.

Absolutely. Don't believe Adobe when they give you a choice of US
English or "International English". We should have a choice of
American, Australian, English and Scottish at least :)

My partner is the *really* good language speaker. She seems to be able
to just immerse herself in it and then speak it, after practice, like
a native. Last time we were in Amsterdam we went to this restaurant
in the Oude Kirk and the waiter asked her if she was from Arnhem (her
German had given her Dutch a slightly harsh pronunciation) ;-)

Yes. Actually it's a comedy stereotype in the UK - the Brit who goes

Ah, you mean the Glottal Stop, a favourite usage of those speaking
Estuary English (as in, e.g. pronouncing lottery, lo'ery).

Liked and loved by Essex boys and girls it's an irritant to those of

I've got a Afrikaans speaking niece staying in London for about a
decade now, and when she's buying something in Durban from a street
vendor, she asks her mother(my sister) to talk (English) to them,
because they usually think she is British and want to do her in,
supposing she do not know the South African currency.

I never noticed that this is an alt. net (my screen reads:
comp.graphics.apps.photoshop). Is my IP filtering something out or have the
whole bunch of youse guys simply succumbed to the noxious gases of inanity?

Read over your own thread and have the decency to be embarassed.

Let's get back on topic!

Look closer ... the "Newsgroups" line in your browser's display (second
line / item below the shortcuts panel) says that the posting is
cross-posted to

alt.graphics.photoshop,comp.graphics.apps.photoshop

Thanks for the heads-up! I never noticed that and often wondered why so many
others cross posted to the two groups.
