Author aligning objects

Hello,

I'm trying to create a picture (Photoshop Elements 3) with 6 identical
images arranged in a 3 x 2 pattern.

I've created the original image in the background layer, then copied &
pasted it to 5 additional layers. I know how to move each image around in
its own layer, but I'm struggling to understand how to line them up
perfectly (horizontally & vertically) for printing. I can't find any 'help'
or menu items for 'align' .

With thanks for all advice

KK

Go to the left and top edges of your image and drag out some guide lines
using the move tool. Use the ruler scales (turn them on in the display pull
down) to place these horizontally and vertically exactly where you want the
top left corner of each image to be located. Then, if you have the snap to
setting turned on in your preferences, you can move an image into position
and it will jump into allignment at the guides.

FIRST link the layers to align,
then take MENU - Layer - Align Linked - (see the options)
There is also MENU - Layer - Distribute just below it.
Play around and get a feel for what they do. Quite nice, really.

You can unlink the layers when you are done.

The original poster said he's using Elements 3 and I'm pretty sure
Guides is missing from Elements (at least I can't find them).

In addition to what the other posters have said it helps to make the layers
semi transparent (reduce opacity) so that you can see through the layers to
check your alignment. Remember, of course, to increase the opacity after you
are done aligning.

There are a number of free add-ons, such as Grant's Tools
(http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Ch...ools/Files.html), which add
Guides and many other missing features to PSE3.

Sorry...I forgot that I added that to my Elements. I usually use Photoshop
anyway, I just keep Elements installed to be able to help a few frieds who
use it.
