Author "save as" macro question in PS7

Hello,

I'm fairly new to PS, although I've been playing with it for a bit of
time now. I'm using Photoshop 7, and trying to get a good grip on the
macro capabilities.

I have an psp image with several layers. I need to save the image
with different combinations of layers turned off and on, and save the
images as PNG files. I need to control which layers are on/off, so I
don't mind manually doing that, and so I made a macro that will choose
the "Save as..." and save the current view as a PNG file.

The problem is that the macro saves the file with the same filename
each time.
Is there some way to have it auto increment the filename?
For instance:
I set the image the way I like, and hit the macro to create a PNG file
called
christmas_cover01.png
then make some more changes, and hit the macro to automagically create
christmas_cover02.png
and another change, hitting the macro to autocreate
christmas_cover03.png
etc...

Thanks.
