Author What's wrong with my crop tool!

I'm using Photoshop 7 (not exactly an expert).

My crop tool seems to have gone funny! : (
When I try to use it... I can only expand and contract it in a
rectangular shape of fixed ratio (erm... does that make any sense!?).

Does anyone know how I can change it so that I have a 'free
transform'?
Or am I stuck with this forever!!? :. (

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

When you select the Crop tool, you can see at the top bar "Width" &
"Height". There are probably numbers in the boxes next to "Width" &
"Height". Clear the boxes and you should be free again :o)

No, you're only stuck until you click the "Clear" button on the
Options Bar.
