Computer Graphics with Photoshop - ? files won't open in PhotoShop Cs

? files won't open in PhotoShop Cs

Clicking on a *.psd file opens PhotoShop but does not open the file I
clicked on - I then have to use the File menu to track down the file to
open it.

This started after I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.2.8. Clicking on other
file types (excel, dreamweaver, etc.) opens them in their respective
applications as expected - PhotoShop is the only problem.

Is there a fix?

Select the file-> Get Info (Apple Key + i). Under the "Open with" select
the application Photoshop and click the button that says "Use this
application to open all documents like this." Done.

This is a documented problem with Photoshop; the solution is posted on Adobe's
tech forum. There's a specific Photoshop preference file you need to delete.

Won't help. In some cases, under OS X, Photoshop will launch when you
double-click a file assigned to Photoshop, but it will refuse to open the file.

This problem is documented and explained in Adobe's technotes. It's caused by a
corruption of one of Photoshop's many preferences files; deleting one specific
file (I don't recall offhand which one) solves the problem.

Ib addition to what Tcit wrote:

This is most commonly due to installing Photoshop CS before doing an
archive and install of Mac OS10.3.

The easiest solution is to reinstall Photoshop CS after you have
installed Mac OS10.3.

Open your Previous System folder.
Find "Adobe Unit Types".
Copy it into: <Panther volume>/Library/ScriptingAdditions/ .

No, but it _is_ a documented MacOS X bug.
The good news is that it is documented on the Adobe web site, in the
user to user forums for Photoshop Macintosh, in the FAQ.
