Computer Graphics with Photoshop - mouse clicking pallettes

When clicking on the fields in the pallettes, like changing the font
size for example - (in the font pallette) I have a hard time just
double clicking to select the contents. It always deselects or the
curser is inserted, etc. It's frustrating. It just doesn't behave
the way other apps do. Am I alone? Any suggestions?

Also, after resizing an image (or skewing, etc.), >I< click on the
toolbar and get a message "Apply the transformation?". Is there a
way to set the transformation without clicking on the toolbar? (like a
keyboard shortcut?)

You shouldn't have to double click.You should be able to select by dragging,
or single clicking. I don't know if your windows mouse settings in the
control panel would affect this otherwise.

In Photoshop almost every field can be selected (highlighted) by
clicking on the type or symbol next to it. If that's what you're asking.
