When I try to update to 7.1 from 7.0 on my neighbor's computer, I am
told it can't find PS 7.0.......but it IS there.

Any suggestions?

I seem to remember that the upgrade refuses to work if the copy of
Photoshop uses a pirated serial number... BTW, I think you mean 7.01, I
don't think there ever was a 7.1 version.

This seems to happen if you reinstall windows. The registry entries that
let the 7.01 installer find 7.0 on the system are missing. You'll
probably have to reinstall 7.0.

Remove and reinstall Photoshop 7.0, then run the updater again.

If it still doesn't work, you are using a serial number that is on Adobe's list
of stolen or pirated serial numbers, and the updater isn't going to work.
