Clone or heal tool: picks up unwanted pixels

Hi, am trying to remove writing from across some scans and the clone and
heal tools both work well. But the sampled area keeps moving and I keep
getting unwanted pixels involved in the area I'm trying to tidy up. I've
tried using a selection and also have also tried having the sampled area
aligned yet each time I get the wrong bits picked up when the little +
sign moves across the wrong pieces of image.

I thought there was a way to restrict a sampled area but can't seem to
figure out how. Can anyone help?

Aligned or not? A quick search for clone in help may explain a lot.

Thanks Arty, I appreciate your reply. I've ordered more ram and a ge
force video card and apparently when those are installed I just won't
know myself. Am very excited.
