Question on QuarkXpress
|
|
|
| Sorry for intrusion. Nonetheless it's graphic related.
Is there a newsgroup devoted to QuarkXpress? Do any of you have a
list of key combinations to enter special charactors like a bullet dot
in QuarkXpress on Mac? Out.

In most fonts, a bullet is Option-8. This is not a Quark issue; it's a font
issue. You can use a utility such as KeyCaps to see what characters you get
when you hold down the Option key.

No. Quark, Inc apparently got tired of hearing how much better InDesign was
from their own users and deleted their user forums, too.

Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map.
However, a bullet dot in PC Xpress is Alt-Shift-*.

Is Quark Inc. still a cesspool of people with bad attitudes? Is it true they
moved support to India?

Run by the guy who gives cesspools a bad name: Fred Ibrahimi. It's his
attitude that carries over into every department, much worse since Tim Gill
retired.

And development, as well, after Ibrahimi called the american programmers
lazy and and ungrateful in so many words, and essentially blamed all of
Quark's problems on them.
Of course, Adobe's American (and non-American) staff has had little problem
making a competitor that wipes the floor with Quark.
He has met the enemy and it is him.

The default bullet in most fonts usually doesn't satisfy this
typographer. Bullets of various useful sizes and shapes can be found
in Bitstream's Commercial Pi.

I'm aware. There's a dual G4 running Panther sitting on the desk behind me,
right next to my laptop.
His phrasing is somewhat ambiguous, and I'll apologize to nick if I've
misread him.

I don't quite see the ambiguity of "in QuarkXpress on Mac"...
