Personalise contact sheet?
|
|
| Mark Bolton 2004-01-26, 5:28 am |
| Hi all...I am begining to produce nice big contact sheets (A3) with PS7 to
go with feature sets of digital images that I send out to various mags I do
work for. What i want to do is personalise them...ie have name across the
top with phone number etc, and then the name of the feature at the bottom.
In the middle will be the thumbs. Ideally, i would have liked to produce
these at different sizes, depending on the picture...perhaps a nice big shot
in the middle, with the others 'floating around' the edge of the big one.
The contact info is really the important bit though. Does anyone know of a
way to do this? is there a 3rd party program that will do this, or is there
a way to set up PS7 to do it? Thanks in advance, Mark

XnView will do this and it's free for non commercial use. Irfanview might
also, but not sure. Don't know if you can do that with PS 7 since I'm still
on 6 and only used 7 or CS on friends computers; Beside, XnView is fast and
easy so that's what I use for contact sheet.

| I don't know this for sure, (I use a competitor product and mine will
do this) but this sounds like something Photoshop Album ought to be
able to do. Have you looked
at the freebie version at

I'm pretty sure youu can do this with PS7. Just File>Automate>Contact Sheet2.
Then you Browse until you find the folder with your images, input the image
sizes, etc., and the contact sheets are generated for you. You can move the
images, change the sizes, and add text. You need to set up a folder with just
the images you want on the contact sheet.

Contact Sheet II will not add text other than file names, will not make
images in different sizes, and will not use any arrangement other than
a regular grid with lots of whitespace. If you need to do this more than
once, Contact Sheet II is not the way to go.
If I had to do this, I'd write a Photoshop script, but that's just because
I'm a programmer and already know how to do it.

I'm sorry, but I just did it. I can add my own text after the contact sheet is
generated. I can move or change the size of one or more images. Warren, are you
using PS7?

| Make an action for what the Contact Sheet II doesn't do. Then you have
automate make the contact sheet, then click on your action to throw in the
test that you want. You might be able to make an action out of the whole
process, but not sure about that.

| Did you try File > automate > picture package? There are a bunch of
different layouts available and you can add text layers. The dialog box can
be a little confusing at first. You can pick & choose the images and even
mix file types (.psd .jpg .tif) on the same layout.
