Author Softening edges in CS

I have been playing around with various filters and come up with a look I'm
happy with, but I need to soften the edges, so that they don't look so hard
and pixellated (important when you're trying to fool people into thinking
you've become Renoir overnight!). I have posted the image in ABCG - could
some kind person give me some tips on how it can be improved? If I can come
up with something realistic, then I might be able to persuade my grandfather
to let me flog them to the members of the Rose Society (the average age of
the membership is mid-70s).

Thanks
