i can see the video now, legit folks gone bad. 100% of the people in our
local photoshop group have upgraded, legally, to CS. 85% of the same people
are using the combo of activation crack/keygen/service disable patch. state,
govt, locals, etc.

honestly, did they think that activation would work ? should've learned from
ms, symantec, autodesk, turbotax and all of the other failed attempts at
activation.

my copy was activated via my purchase, period. i refuse to activate it any
other way. and when they release a "service pack", which is normally nothing
other than a known serial blacklist, we switch to using keygens.

pretty sad since the keygens, cracks, etc. were leaked from the inside =)

We don't know if that is the truth, but you pointed indirectly to an
interesting question: Will Adobe know how many legitmate serial numbers
were never activated?

The real question is will Adobe corp ever care? If (probably when) it
becomes painfully obvious activation is nothing but a waste of time, money
and users' goodwill, will the dumbass execs who rammed through imitating a
Microsoft bad idea put their asses on the line and admit it?

My impression is "no," having experienced that kind of beast far too often,
but this is yet another thing I'd rather be wrong about.

good point - i always wondered if they keep a track of what printed serials
went out, and compared those coming in (via activation) to that list.

ms did just that after the whole xp devilsown fiasco, but alas, it still
didnt stop keygen'd copies from being registered

I admire how you silly people create your own laws.

I had to activate AutoCad with Autodesk and you don't hear me whining
and crying about it.

As I sated before, those why whine and cry about activation are more
than likely software piraters.

You need to learn the difference between a "law" and a "contract" moron.

If you pay for the program or upgrade, Adobe would have a hell of a time in
court trying to recover non-existent 'damages' from breach of contract,
which would be the case in a violation of the EULA after legal purchase of
the software.

And of course they would never live it down if they even tried to make
such a case. Further, US states are free to interpret a EULA differently,
sometimes regardless of the specific language. Unfortunately I cannot see
a successful case where a legal licencee sues Adobe because the activation
scheme failed and caused a catastrophic business loss. That language
exception is daunting. Note how even Micro$oft is finally making a sincere
effort to scrub the worst security flaws from their products because
finally, after all these years, some big buck attorneys are looking at
Micro$oft as the next Tobacco case - a hugely profitable suit in the
making.
