| Hi everyone....I would like to know the easy way to create a cube....I am
involved in preparing odd size boxes for transit..what I would like to do is
to be able to simimulate boxes as stacked on pallets, to be able to
rearrange them to get best fit....I'd like to be able to create cubes by
entering Length x Width x Height in mm to acheive this....how can I do
this?...thanks.

You do not say what graphics program you have or are intending to use.
If you are referring to an isometric view, then it's mostly a question
of geometry. A script would be required. Depending on the angle you
choose, you will see three sides (parallelograms I think), Calculate
the coordinates of each corner and draw the three sides you can see.
You would be better off using a 3D modelling program that is
specifically designed for simple 3D. Boxes would be simple to
program. I can't help there but those programs for doing house
layouts are just one example. I had one years ago (Architect 3d?). I
got a few hits by Googling "pallet stacking software".
Corel Dream 3D may be a possibility but I don't know how easy it is to
use for this application.

| Ok...thank you for that....I obviously need a bit more exposure to
CorelDraw, I thought I could create a 3D cube simply by entering
dimensions.....I'll look around...thanks again.

| Paul,
Using the "Extrude" tool, you can create an isometric cube in CorelDraw, but you
cannot rotate the object in three dimensions. If, however, you extrude a square
or rectangle, you can rotate it in three dimensions if you do not use an
equilateral extrusion. You can also apply shading to the different sides of the
cube and bevel it. You should probably play around this the extrusion tool until
you are comfortable with it.
There is also a CorelDraw add-on program called "EZMetrics" that is very helpful
in creating the cube effect. You can take a look at it at this Web site:
http://www.unleash.com/gary/logo/logo15.html .
After you master extrusions in CorelDraw, you will see all kinds of ways to use
it. It is especially helpful in technical drawings, but you can use it in
commercial designs as well.
Good luck.
