Author What's up with web host coupons and codes?

Why are there so many people advertising coupons or codes to get
discounts when signing up with web hosts? Are they resellers? If I use
their coupon/code, am I going to get a shared account that is part of
a reseller account? I'm thinking of signing up with Lunar Pages.
