| Some time ago, I wrote an article called "The Misuse of Server Log Files
for Usability Analysis". It has been present on two of my sites since
then. I feel it is a strong piece. I've recently expanded upon it, for
clarity reasons, and welcome any and all comments any of you have.
The URL to the MS Word version is here: http://tinyurl.com/3bgvmh (the
version on my sites is not this most current one)

A good and useful article. You might want to add a few more factors:
1. Bugs in the analysis program.
2. User peculiarities. For example, if I look at your robots.txt, will I
be an "unknown robot"? If so, for how long?
3. Caching control. On one of my sites, all significant pages are php.
This should eliminate page caching (but not all file caching), and, I
think, mostly does.

This is a good point. In fact, I may mention that there's a wide variance
in how analysis programs work. Anyone with CPanel (which typically comes
with Webalizer, AWStats, and Analog Stats) can tell you there's a big
difference in what gets reported.

True. Though it depends upon which Cache Control headers you set and how
you set them.

Thanks for the feedback!
